SUCCESS Academy Ranked #2 Best School District in Utah

Niche.com released their 2020 school year "Best School Districts in Utah" awards. SUCCESS Academy was ranked SECOND! We also rank SECOND for the Safest School District in Utah, and FOURTH in Utah School Districts with the Best Teachers. Rankings are based on several criteria including geographic information, parent and student reviews, and public data sources. As always, we want to thank our amazing teachers for being so amazing! They're a huge reason we're so SUCCESSful!

SUCCESS Academy Named a Reason St. George is America's Fastest-Growing City

KSL news published an article on some of the reasons St. George is America's fastest growing city. One of the five reasons listed is because of the education opportunities. It lists SUCCESS Academy as one of those opportunities. The article states, "Schools like Success Academy are changing high school and pre-college academics for the better with early college courses to help students succeed". Read the full article here.

SUCCESS Academy Ranked Second Best School District in Utah

Niche.com recently released their Best School Districts in Utah. SUCCESS Academy is SECOND! We received A rankings in the Academics, Teachers, College Prep, and Health and Safety categories. In fact, our teachers are so great, we received the #2 ranking in the state for "Districts with the Best Teachers in Utah"! (We know this already! Glad the state does as well.) Southwest Sterling Scholars Announced

The high school Sterling Scholars from Utah's Southwest region were named Thursday, with students from 18 schools in five counties gathering for a regional competition at Dixie State University in St. George. The Sterling Scholar program, which since 1962 has recognized academic excellence in Utah high schools, was started by the Deseret News to encourage students to succeed. Top seniors from each school are recognized in 15 separate academic categories, and then can go on to compete in a regional competition and win scholarships and earn recognition. SUCCESS students Lyle Prince and William Heaton won for their schools.

SUCCESS Student Receives Daniels Scholarship

Our own Max Brown is one of only 26 students to receive the Daniel's scholarship in the state of Utah this year! Daniels Scholars may attend any accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States, and the program covers the expenses that remain after all other scholarships and financial aid have been applied. It is an incredible scholarship and is often based on character as well as merit.

2017/2018 Sterling Scholars Named

Since 1962, high school seniors have been honored for their academic excellence by being named Sterling Scholars. According to the Sterling Scholar website, “a Sterling Scholar is a high school senior who is publicly recognized and awarded for the pursuit of excellence in scholarship, leadership and citizenship in the State of Utah.” Two of our own students, William Heaton (music), and Lyle Prince (mathematics) were recipients of this prestigious award.

SUUeverywhere features past students of SUU who are really making a name for themselves. Our own past student, Matt Wilde, is featured and for good reason. Matt made huge contributions to SUU and currently works at Amazon as an engineer. He was also featured in the SUU alumni magazine (May 2018).

Former Student Recognized as 20 in their 20's

Former SUCCESS Student Meera Kansagra was awarded by Utah Business as a "20 in their 20's"! These are young entrepreneurs taking the business world by storm at a young age. Meera grew up in India, moving to the United States with her family as a child. But she did not let her unfamiliar surroundings hold her back – she set a goal to graduate early from high school and SUCCESS. Because of that, she completed her Master’s in Accountancy at 20 years old. She is currently the assistant controller at RizePoint (accounting) and has implemented an automated system for collections.

SUCCESS Academy Nationally Ranked

The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 22,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college. SUCCESS is Nationally Ranked!

The Cedar Youth City Council takes part in local government in Cedar City and does a a lot of volunteer work and planning. Jasmine Tapia and Gracia Allen of SUCCESS Academy participated in this year's Council. We're very proud of them.

SUCCESS Students Participate in SheTech at SUU

Several SUCCESS students were able to attend SheTech on May 8th at SUU. SheTech, directed by Dr. Shalini Kesar at SUU, exposes high school girls to technology through workshops with tech companies, competitive problem-solving events and networking activities. This day-long event includes hands-on workshops in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The ultimate goal of SheTech is to expose high school girls to technology in a fun atmosphere, allow them to connect with STEM role models, and to learn about interesting professional and educational opportunities in those fields.

SAGE scores 2016: SUCCESS is a Top Utah School!

Sage scores are IN. SUCCESS Academy received top scores once again. SUU SUCCESS is THIRD in Utah and DSU is FIFTH in the state for MATHEMATICS! SUU SUCCESS placed SECOND and DSU SUCCESS placed SIXTH in SCIENCE! And we placed in the top ten in English as well! Our students are brilliant hard-workers.

Newsweek Names SUCCESS a Top High School

Newsweek Magazine named SUCCESS Academy a top high school (31 out of 500 high schools) in America for excellence in a low income area. They base scores on schools who prepare students for college while overcoming economic obstacles. Newsweek also ranked SUCCESS Academy 68 out of 500 for top high school overall!

For all the hard work, long hours in the gym, and all the stress, the payoff finally arrived for a SUCCESS Academy athlete. Swimmer Nathan Wallace – who holds a truckload of school records – has signed his National Letter of Intent and will be joining the swim team at BYU.

SUCCESS Academy: 4th Rated High School in Utah

Now that the year is over, the results are in. Out of Utah's 129 high schools, SUCCESS ranks #4! Congratulations SUCCESS! This year's report cards for Utah's schools show about the same distribution of A, B, C, D and F grades as last year, but with several new calculation metrics, according to data released Monday by the Utah State Office of Education.

Of all the high schools in Utah, only six received an A grade this year from the State of Utah, and SUCCESS is one of them! This is the direct result of the type of students we have here at SUCCESS.

SAGE Testing: Best in mathematics

Like their traditional public school peers, students at Utah’s charter schools struggled to reach new performance benchmarks in math, science and English. Of the 89 charter schools listed in SAGE testing data released Monday by the Utah Office of Education, 34 had proficiency rates higher than the state average in all three test subjects, 36 were below the state average in all subjects and 19 were both above and below the state average, depending on individual test subjects. SAGE tests show proficiency in math, science and English varies widely depending on students’ prevailing background.

Third Best-Scoring High School in Utah

SUCCESS is one of the best-scoring high schools in Utah, according to the state's criterion-referenced tests, or CRT. The CRT tests gauge student performance and shows which schools are performing better than others in scores. The rankings are based on the percentages of students who have passed CRT tests proficiently. The Deseret News averaged language arts, math and science scores together weighed by total students tested in each category to get an overall percentage. Only schools with 150 students or more are included in the list.
